Join Sarah Field and Keri Rehfisch online to learn how they have challenged their students to find their own voices when writing essays in the senior years of English.

When learning to write analytically, students often cling to basic structures such as TEEL, PEEL and PETAL paragraphs, or the five paragraph essay and never fully realise the power that a well-crafted essay has. By disconnecting our students from rigid structures that limit thought and expression, we seek to challenge them to find their own voice when writing about complex literary works in their senior years of English. It is vital that students know the basics of essay writing, but more importantly, that they have the confidence to communicate original ideas about timeless texts in authentic ways.
